Course Overview
Ideal if you’re in an outdoors profession or working in agriculture, this course teaches you the essential skills associated with felling small trees.
To include directional felling of trees up to 380mm, taking into consideration the tree size, weight, condition and species. This will include felling of upright trees as well as ‘hung up’ trees and those that are weighted to a specific direction.

…those who’ve already taken the NPTC Chainsaw Related Operations course on chainsaw safety, maintenance and cross cutting.
Building on the topics covered in the Chainsaw Maintenance course including current legislation, fundamentals of chainsaw operation and safe use and maintenance of the chainsaw, this course goes on to include the felling of trees up to 380mm in diameter.
On completion, you could go on to study the NPTC CS32, CS38 and CS39 courses.

There are no formal requirements, but you must be at least 19 years old and will have successfully achieved the NPTC Chainsaw and Related Operations course on maintenance and cross cutting.
You’ll need to provide:
- Your own personal protective/safety clothing – however these can be provided if necessary
- Two passport-sized photographs
- A packed lunch and flask, although refreshments are available to buy on site.
The course lasts three days plus an extra half day to a day for assessment.
