Course Overview

Take the first step towards a rewarding career in Human Resources with this CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice.

This course gives you a strong introduction to HR, recruitment, and people management, while developing the practical skills employers value.

Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the professional body for HR and people development, you can learn more about the qualification here:

This course is ideal if you are interested in starting a career in Human Resources or developing your people management skills.

It is suitable if you currently work in an HR support role and want to gain a recognised professional qualification. It is also perfect if you want flexible, career-focused study that helps you progress into HR or people practice roles.

The certificate is delivered through four structured modules, exploring topics including:

  • Business Culture and Change,
  • Principles of Analytics,
  • Core Behaviours for People Professionals, and
  • Essentials of People Practice such as recruitment and selection, performance management, and learning and development.

To achieve the qualification, you will complete an assignment for each of the modules, giving you the chance to apply learning directly to real workplace situations

You will develop both theoretical knowledge and practical HR skills aligned to CIPD professional standards, preparing you for entry-level roles in HR or further professional study.

You will be expected to attend your timetabled sessions and take an active part in discussions and learning activities.

Independent study is an important part of the course, and you should be prepared to spend time outside of class completing assignments and wider reading.

Good organisation, motivation, and a commitment to developing your professional behaviours will help you get the most from your studies.

After successfully completing this qualification, you may choose to progress to the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management to further develop your HR knowledge and advance your career opportunities.

This next step is ideal if you want to move into more specialist or advisory HR roles, or build towards professional CIPD membership. You could also use this qualification to support progression into roles such as HR Administrator, HR Assistant, or People Coordinator while continuing your professional development.

There are no formal academic entry requirements for this course, making it an accessible starting point if you are new to Human Resources or people practice.

You should have a good standard of written and spoken English and be comfortable completing written assignments.

A keen interest in people management and a commitment to developing your professional skills will help you succeed on the course.

Entry is subject to a professional discussion to ensure this course is the right fit for your knowledge and career goals.
