Kickstart your Lean Six Sigma journey with this fully funded Yellow Belt course, accredited by the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC). Learn the core principles of process improvement, problem-solving, and waste reduction—an ideal foundation for professionals looking to make an impact in their workplace.

This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

… employed adults in Wales who want to build their confidence in process improvement using Lean Six Sigma.

…for professionals in all sectors—including healthcare, manufacturing, public services, logistics, and retail—who are new to Lean Six Sigma or want to support improvement projects as part of a wider team.

This course is delivered by virtual classroom. Virtual classrooms are equivalent to face-to-face classroom courses, but delivered in an online environment.

Course Duration: 3 Days

Inspired by the most successful global methodologies in process engineering and quality management, the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt provides a practical introduction to Lean thinking and Six Sigma techniques.

You’ll explore key Lean principles, including Continuous Improvement, the 7 Wastes identification, and 5S methodologies. Then, you’ll move on to essential tools and concepts used in each phase of the DMAIC framework, such as:

Defining your problem

Understanding the Voice of the Customer

Calculating the Cost of Poor Quality

Applying the Pareto Principle

Conducting basic graphical analysis

Performing Root Cause Analysis

Implementing and sustaining process improvements

Upon successful completion, you’ll earn a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification, accredited by the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) — a globally recognised credential that proves your understanding of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but a commitment to completing the course in line with future aspirations will be assessed on application.

You will need access to internet, a windows computer and webcam/microphone.

The PLA programme intends to provide quality career advice and guidance to participants before, during and after their learning.

Prior to being enrolled onto your PLA funded course, an individual learning plan will be discussed with you to ensure that the right learning has been considered.

This will include a general discussion on the following topics:

  • formal education or qualifications in related fields
  • prior experience within the industry or field
  • career aspirations
  • dedication of time required
